I’m Finished with Optimism

Zelenskyy is a dictator? No. Ukraine started the war when it could have taken a deal? No. The outlook for Ukraine is a bleak as I thought it would be if Trump won the election.

Gazans should pack up and move so the world can have a new Mediterranean resort? Yes, but no. Great idea for resort developers. No doubt some Gazans would move voluntarily, but not really a solution to anything.

Fire nuclear technicians? No. Take over the USPS and do what? Fire the people who deliver the mail? Sure. It’s a money losing proposition to promise to deliver mail to the most remote locations. Let them fend for themselves.

I could go on, but if you read even the headlines, you’ll understand my mood. What is the point of trying to keep up with it all. No one in Congress will stand up to this. Trump will ignore the courts if they rule against him. The military went along with the “emergency” at the border. Will they stand up to any other dubious orders? No.

In my humble opinion, the world is going to hell. War is not inevitable because too many people might just roll over and play dead, letting the autocrats win.

Am I wrong?
